Why and How E-mail Viral Marketing Works

What does a virus have to do with marketing? Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message’s exposure and influence. Like viruses, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands and then to millions.

Public health nurses offer sage advice at flu season: stay away from people who cough, wash your hands often, and don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Viruses only spread when they’re easy to transmit. Viral e-mail marketing works great on the Internet because instant communication has become so easy and inexpensive. Digital format make copying simple. From a marketing standpoint, you must simplify your marketing message so it can be transmitted easily and without degradation. Short is better. Remember the K.I.S.S. standard….Keep it Simple Stupid. The shorter and easier to remember is always better than long and complicated.

Clever viral marketing plans take advantage of common human motivations. The desire to be cool and greed drives people. So does the hunger to be popular, loved, and understood. The resulting urge to communicate produces millions of websites and billions of e-mail messages.

Most people are social. Nerdy, basement-dwelling computer science grad students are the exception. Social scientists tell us that each person has a network of 8 to 12 people in their close network of friends, family, and associates. People on the Internet develop networks of relationships, too. They collect e-mail addresses and favorite website URLs. Affiliate programs exploit such networks, as do permission e-mail lists. Learn to place your message into existing communications between people, and you rapidly multiply its dispersion.

If you can design a marketing strategy that builds on common motivations and behaviors for its transmission, you have a winner.

The Amazing Results of Positive Thinking

What Is Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks 1 in a particular search engine could rank 200 in another search engine. New sites need not be submitted to search engines to be listed. A simpl e link from a well established site will get the search engines to visit the new site and begin to spider its contents. It can take a few days to even weeks from the referring of a link from such an established site for all the main search engine spiders to commence visiting and indexing the new site.

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own search engine ranking, you may want to hire someone to work with you on these issues.

Search engine marketing and promotion companies, will look at the plan for your site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. If you wish, they will also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for editing and improvements to keep your site traffic flow and your search engine ranking high. Normally your search engine optimization experts work with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

Are there Careers in Blogging

Careers in Blogging

Many freelance writers are beginning to find blogging is one of the newest career opportunities available to them. Blogging is essentially a series of postings on a particular subject which are listed in reverse chronological order. These blogs may be about a variety of different subjects and may be personal, political, informative, humorous or any other category desired by the blogger. However, the key to a successful blog is a blog which pertains to a subject which appeals to a wide audience. Additionally the blog should be updated regularly and should provide useful content to the readers of the blog. This article will provide some information on finding career opportunities in blogging, will discuss the benefits of this type of career and will provide information on how writers can manage a blog successfully.

Finding Blogging Career Opportunities

Although blogging career opportunities are becoming increasingly popular, many writers are not aware of how to find these wonderful opportunities. These career opportunities may be offered as ghost writing positions or as positions offering a byline to the writer and finding these blogging opportunities is often very similar to finding any other career opportunities for writers. Companies seeking a blogger may post the job opening in the same manner in which they would post other openings with the company such as accounting positions or administrative positions. Therefore, writers interested in a position as a blogger should utilize the same job search websites they rely on to find other career opportunities.

Bloggers may also wish to visit career websites and message boards which focus exclusively on careers in blogging. The ProBlogger.net website is just one example of a website dedicated exclusively to putting bloggers in connection with those who are interested in hiring a writer for a particular blog. Interested bloggers should also consider joining message boards for those who blog for a living. This can be beneficial because here bloggers are likely to share information regarding the companies for which they work as well as any information they have about companies who are currently looking to hire bloggers.

The Benefits of a Career in Blogging

There are many benefits to pursuing a career in blogging. Perhaps one of the most alluring benefits to a career in blogging is the work can typically be done as a telecommute position. This is because as long as the blogger has access to the software necessary to write and upload a blog, there is no need for the blogger to perform the work from a specific location. This means the blogger can reside virtually anywhere in the world and can likely perform the necessary work from his own home. However, not all blogging positions are telecommute positions. Some companies may require bloggers to perform the work onsite as a matter of personal preference.

Another benefit to a career in blogging is the ability to accomplish work at a pace which his convenient to the blogger. The blogger may be required to upload a new post to the blog according to a regular schedule but the actually writing of the posts can be accomplished when it is convenient for the blogger. Many blogging software packages enable the blogger to set a specific time for a specific post to be uploaded. This allows the blogger to write several posts at a time and have them publish according to a pre-determined schedule.

Finding Time to Blog

One of the problems which many bloggers face is finding the time to blog. This is especially difficult if the blogger maintains several blogs or if the blogger maintains a current events blog in which posts must be timely in order to be relevant and of interest to the readers. Writing blog posts in batches and scheduling them to publish as needed is one way to deal with managing several blogs. However, writers of blogs related to current events must take special care to budget their time wisely to ensure they are publishing topical blog posts. One way this can be accomplished is by setting aside time daily to reading current events to derive inspiration and then scheduling time after that to write and publish the blog. For example a blogger with a current events blog might choose to review the previous day’s news the first thing in the morning to ensure they are reviewing all of the relevant news from the previous day before writing the blog post.

How to spot a supplier selling fakes

Retailers need to be highly wary of suppliers claiming to be selling authentic branded or designer goods because often their products will be fakes. If you buy into re selling fakes, you could face severe consequences including prosecution. Furthermore, when you buy fakes, you are supporting a syndicate of crime gangs who run the counterfeit industry and often enslave children to produce these fake goods, which is hardly something most people would want to associate with.

Buying branded or designer items and managing to distance yourself from such syndicates of crime is not easy and finding a genuine supplier will take a lot of time. To help you along on your quest, I have put together this trusty step-by-step check list for retailers to refer to when they are researching new suppliers:

Step 1: Check the supplier’s web site and contact details

Before you do anything else, start by checking how old their website is by visiting Domain Tools and entering their URL and checking how long their site has been online for. If they have been around for anything less than two years, they are much more likely to be selling fakes.

Verify their contact details by calling and asking a few questions, and sending a few emails to get a feel for the people you will be dealing with. When you call, check that the person answers the phone professionally by telling you the company name and their personal name. When emailing, you should expect to have a fast and thorough response to all your questions.

Step 2: Check that they have safe payment methods such as PayPal or Escrow.com. If they only accept Western Union or telegraphic or wire transfers, do not do business with them! PayPal and Escrow offer buyer security which means that the buyer only gets paid when you receive your shipment , which means if there is ever an issue, you can get your money back much more easily.

Step 3: Ask the supplier for original documentation from the manufacturer or product owner. This is the best proof that the supplier is an authorized distributor of genuine merchandise. If they don’t have original paperwork, ask for a Sanitized Invoice. This should show the legal trademark of the product owner with the price, date, contact info blanked out. It’s not as good as original paperwork though.

Step 4: Order in a few samples from the supplier you are researching. When you receive the items, you’ll need to go through them with a fine tooth comb to ensure that they are legitimate.

Wholesale Sourcing

Wholesale Suppliers

Product supply becomes increasingly important as your business grows. You’ll find that you will need at least two sources for each product you sell in order to have a reliable re-stock system. Large amounts of product usually only come from one place: wholesale suppliers. There are two different types of wholesale supply:

Bulk Lots: This is where you purchase large quantities at regular intervals from the supplier. The goods are sent to you where you store them and package and post them as you make a sale.
Drop Shipping: You pay for the goods but you never see them. The wholesaler packages and posts the goods straight to your customer for you.
The best way to find wholesalers is to use directories. It’s important to realize that legitimate wholesalers won’t go out of their way to seek business from low-volume sellers (i.e. eBay sellers), and thus, probably won’t optimize their website for generic keywords such as ‘wholesale supplier’ for that reason. They might do business with you if you go to the trouble of contacting them, but they won’t seek you out. Thus, be very wary of sites that appear in a Google search for ‘wholesale suppliers’ – they may very well be illegitimate.

The problem is though, everyone who uses eBay knows about a lot of these sites. You’ll still be able to get some good deals, but the best bargains to be found will be when you find and approach a wholesaler yourself. As your confidence grows, trying searching for wholesalers by using cold calling.

When contacting a wholesaler, you need to consider the following:

If you are purchasing in bulk, have you got enough room to store your stock? Or do you need to pursue drop shipping?
What quantities will you need to buy to ensure you not only have a good supply for a month or so, but will meet the wholesale supplier’s demands?
Buying from a smaller wholesaler might be easier at first as they will be more inclined to need your business. But what happens as your business grows? Often small wholesalers have trouble keeping up in fast-paced sales seasons.
How long will it take for the product to be restocked?
How big or heavy is your item? If you are selling furniture or something quite large, then you might find it difficult to manage without a drop shipper.
Buy one or two of the products first to not only test the quality for yourself, but to see if they sell well on eBay.
You may also find that it is difficult getting wholesalers to open an account for you when you are a new seller. It is a lot easier if your business has been established for some time already before you go seeking a wholesale supplier. Then you can answer with confidence questions such as:

What other products are you carrying?
Who are you customers?
How much inventory do you expect to sell in a month?
How long has your business been running? And so on.
Just be sure not to inflate how much stock you sell in order to get the wholesaler on board. You’ll only find yourself in deep water when you have too much stock on your hands later on!

How Do Search Engines Work – Web Crawlers

It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. Hence it is better to know how these search engines actually work and how they present information to the customer initiating a search.

There are basically two types of search engines. The first is by robots called crawlers or spiders.

Search Engines use spiders to index websites. When you submit your website pages to a search engine by completing their required submission page, the search engine spider will index your entire site. A spider is an automated program that is run by the search engine system. Spider visits a web site, read the content on the actual site, the sites Meta tags and also follow the links that the site connects. The spider then returns all that information back to a central depository, where the data is indexed. It will visit each link you have on your website and index those sites as well. Some spiders will only index a certain number of pages on your site, so dont create a site with 500 pages

The spider will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.

A spider is almost like a book where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.

Example Excite, Lycos, AltaVista and Google.

When you ask a search engine to locate information, it is actually searching through the index which it has created and not actually searching the Web. Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same algorithm to search through the indices.

One of the things that a search engine algorithm scans for is the frequency and location of keywords on a web page, but it can also detect artificial keyword stuffing or spamdexing. Then the algorithms analyze the way that pages link to other pages in the Web. By checking how pages link to each other, an engine can both determine what a page is about, if the keywords of the linked pages are similar to the keywords on the original page.

Advanced Wordtracker Keyword Research Tools

In this article we’re going to examine some of the more advance Wordtracker features that are available only in the paid version of the tool But don’t worry – using the paid version still might not have a direct impact on your budget because Wordtracker offers a seven-day free trial of the full-featured version.

After you sign up for the trial and log into your new account, click the link labeled “Keyword Universe” on your dashboard page. Next enter the keyword term you’re researching and click the “Proceed” button. Wordtracker will then collect all Google keyword phrases related to your search term. You can then review these new terms and add any of them to your “basket”

Then return to the table of results on the left side of the screen and generate another list of keyword phrases you generated with your original search. Do this as many times as necessary. The Wordtracker software will filter out duplicates that are added to your basket, so don’t worry about overlapping results within the individual searches. Once you are satisfied with the number of new terms in your basket, click the “Click here for step 3” link at the bottom of the page.

You’ll be taken to a page that lists all of the phrases in your basket, in decreasing order of popularity. But remember this is only the first step in our process, however, because we still need to figure out how much competition there is for each term. A slightly less-popular term with far less competition is most often the better one for a new business to focus on.

So next you’ll click on the button labeled “Competition Search.” You’ll choose the search engine you want to evaluate your keyword terms against (it’s probably best to start with the most popular search engine – Google), and click the “Proceed” button. You’ll then see a table with the competition statistics included.

You’ll see a column labeled “KEI Analysis”. This number is calculate by dividing (a) the number of times the search term appeared in Wordtracker’s database over the past 160 days, by (b) the number of competing web pages that already exist. For our purposes, the higher the KEI Analysis number, the better.

Definitely take advantage of the seven-day trial. If you have done your preparation in advance of signing up for the trial, you may be able to do all of the necessary research before the seven-day period ends. You might want to make a list of a few dozen niche markets before signing up, and then spending as much time as necessary to complete the research process described above. By spending the better part of a week doing this research, you’ll collect an incredible amount of valuable information you can use to make your business a success.
